Postponed: The Strongman – a Covid-safe, all-family, socially distanced, real-life silent movie theatre show!
Saturday 24th October 2020
Regrettably the performance of The Strongman at Hearn Field due to take place at 3pm tomorrow, Saturday 24 October, has been postponed. The forecast has got worse over the week, and it is due to rain (with high winds) not only in the lead up, but also throughout the performance. We will reschedule the performance to Spring 2021 and look forward to welcoming you when it’s hopefully a little drier!
All ticket holders have been contacted via email, please do check your inboxes.
Inspired by Charlie Chaplin’s 1928 film ‘The Circus’, The Strongman tells a story of intrigue and jealousy, with a big helping of comedy and musical ‘joie de vivre’.
Set in the 1920s, the story involves a travelling show that has just lost its headline act. The Strongman has died, and if his assistant doesn’t find a replacement she will be forced to quit the circus. To make matters worse, the Boss is stealing her share of the profits…Who can save her from homelessness and destitution? Will she find a Strongman in time and will he be able to lift the Two-Ton Challenge that awaits him?
Expect silent comedy, circus skills, live theatre and music and a little bit of magic from the Cornish family troupe Bash Street Theatre, in a show suitable for all ages.
