The role of a Volunteer Promoter is of huge importance to the Villages in Action network, acting as a catalyst of creative activities in their own communities. The role is multifaceted, with a number skills required to make community events a success, so we welcome applications from both individuals and groups. 

Our Volunteer Promoters take responsibility for:

• selecting an appropriate event for their local audiences from the Villages in Action menu
• aiming to sell all available tickets
• distributing posters and flyers and publicising the show locally (including in local publications and groups)
• hosting artists as required and ensuring access to the venue for event set up
• providing hospitality and overnight accommodation for artists where possible (not all artists require this)
• abiding by our Terms and Conditions as agreed during the booking process
• booking and paying for the venue for the event
• gathering relevant feedback for evaluation and audience monitoring
• ensuring the venue is licensed for public performances
• completion of essential training around event management
• contributing to the success of the network and attending occasional social gatherings with other promoters

The Villages in Action team all have a wealth of experience in their respective fields, with artistic programming led by Luke and Mair. We will:

• provide access to a menu of ‘acts’ where you can read about all the relevant artist and show details including availability, technical and access requirements as well as costs. You will decide which acts to programme for your community
• manage artist contracts and ensure they receive payment for their work, putting them in touch with you directly to make specific arrangements for the event
• supply event-specific stickers (with venue, date, time and ticketing information) that you as the promoter will need to stick to posters and flyers
• provide a comprehensive box office and ticket management system meaning you don’t have to handle cash
• share expertise in terms of online promotion and marketing for those promoters interested in learning more, or we can take responsibility for this aspect
